MESHALKA (Ita/Slo)

The MESHALKA impro collective was formed especially for LIVE- Musiche di Sconfine as a guest at the 25th SAJETA festival.

Silvia Bolognesi – doublebass
Giovanni Maier – doublebass
Žiga Ipavec – drums
Vid Drašler – drums
Alberto Novello – modular synth
Andrea Gulli – live electronics, chimereal
Jure Boršič – alto sax, clarinet
Paolo Pascolo – flutes, tenor sax

The collective comprises musicians from different generations of the Friulian/Julian and Slovenian improvisational scene, with various collaborations to their credit, and Tuscan guest Silvia Bolognesi. In recent years, many cross-border groups and projects have sprung up in the North Adriatic area, giving rise to a real ‘scene’.
The group will have collective workshop days in which through a peer-to-peer method they will develop a set to be performed live at the Sajeta festival.
The combination of more ‘classical’ instruments such as percussion, woodwinds and double basses with instruments such as modular synthesisers and live electronics is intended to be an attempt to find new solutions in improvisational technique with a form that starts with a double quartet.
LIVE – Musiche di Sconfine with Sajeta will handle the recording of the event and its dissemination through its own channels and label.
