M.U.G. (Slo)

Marko Brdnik (accordion), Uroš Rakovec (guitar) and Gašper Peršl (drums) are all active as soloists, chamber and studio musicians. On their own and sometimes together they play in various local and international avant-rock, jazz, etno-jazz and other renowned line-ups as well as create music for theatre, dance performances and films. Brdnik and Rakovec are a well oiled machine which in 2016 produced the uniquely sounding album Leta, which impressed critics and audiences alike. They manage to masterfully avoid stereotypes to which we are used with similar line-ups where the guitar and the accordion are the main protagonists and their signature sound gained a lot dynamics wise with the addition of Peršl’s drums and with their own stubborn and unbiased musical expression the trio manages to reach out to a wider and also younger audience. 

M.U.G. Trio entered autumn with a new album Mislec which was published in digital form and as an LP. The instrumental compositions mix modern improvised and popular musical streams, enriched by the influence of classical music, classic rock and hip-hop. On the album, the virtuoso musicians embark on a genre-free musical journey and think about the contemporary happenings in society but besides that emanate a welcome light and optimism from their full-blooded music.
