The Future of Feminist Performance presents and re-contextualizes the artistic and activist legacy of internationally renowned poet, performer, and sound artist Katalin Ladik (Hungary). Her experimental voice poetry, body art, and feminist interventions have left a profound mark on avant-garde culture in Central and South-Eastern Europe, while her artistic legacy continues to inspire new research and interpretations across different cultural contexts. Through her multimedia practice, Ladik challenges the existing social symbolic order. She explores female experience, body, routines, and sexuality, questioning the position of women artists within a predominantly male art world. Engaging in dialogue with her legacy are contemporary artists including Bojana (S) Knežević, Kinga Tóth, Irena Tomažin, Nina Dragičević, among others, expanding the field of feminist performance today. Bringing together artists from Austria, Italy, Croatia, Serbia, and Slovenia, the project fosters intercultural dialogue, empowers a new generation and highlights the ongoing relevance of feminist artistic practices in addressing contemporary social challenges.

Meet Hydra, a posthuman figure of multiplicity: an environmental identity crisis embodied. Each of its myth-tech eco-hack grows from research into a particular body of water. The Natisone/Nadison river is strained by sewage mismanagement and overbathing, stirred by contested access and apparently starved by climate change. Can damaged waters be restored by unraveling submerged histories? Or through fragile artistic practices of care? Hydra’s movements negotiate current, threshold, obstruction and retreat. Generating a sonic field from the microscape’s ecological tensions and cultural narratives. An eerie entertainment for accidental bathers-by. An estranging composition of pressures, leakages, interruptions and re-emergences. In Greek myth, Hydra is the killer serpent of Lernaea swamp that survives all decapitation attempts until Heracles seals its wounds with fire and buries its immortal head under a rock. Or has the hero failed perhaps? Welcome to the second site-specific performance of the hydraHacks series unfolding across vulnerable Adriatic waterscapes.
