As day turns into evening, the screen of the summer cinema stretches once again across the places on both sides of the border. So\u010da Travelling Cinema \u2013 Isonzo Cinema<\/strong>, a turquoise messenger of cinematic stories, continues its journey. Until the end of the summer, Kinoatelje, together with numerous partners, will light up summer nights with film screenings, conversations with filmmakers, and the unique magic of open-air cinema. Spanning cultural venues from the source to the mouth of the So\u010da\/Isonzo River, the network brings high-quality cinema to places where there is usually no movie theatre, while creating space for a slower gaze, shared experiences, and stories that linger long into the night amid the rustling trees, the evening breeze, and the glow of the projector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, the travelling cinema also arrives in Breginj<\/strong>, the westernmost village along the Slovenian\u2013Italian border, where the spotlight will be on films that reveal the richness of the landscape, memory, and local identity through cinematic storytelling. The screening is organised in collaboration with Sajeta Music Festival and Zveza Mink Tolmin. Join us under the stars at Karavla <\/strong>on Wednesday, 15 July, at 9:00 PM<\/strong>, for screenings of Dre\u017eni\u0161ka koza in njeni ljudje <\/em><\/strong>(\u201cDre\u017enica Goat and Her People\u201d<\/em>) by director Marko Kumer Mur\u010d<\/strong> and Starmi Cajt <\/em><\/strong>(“Steep Time”<\/em>) by director Alvaro Petricig<\/strong>, who will also be joining us as a guest.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In case of bad weather, the screening will take place indoors at Karavla. <\/strong>Admission is free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DRE\u017dNI\u0160KA KOZA IN NJENI LJUDJE<\/strong> (“Dre\u017enica Goat and Her People”)<\/strong>
(Marko Kumer Mur\u010d, Slovenia, 2025, 51′) OV SLO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dre\u017enica goat is critically endangered. Along with the goat, the only indigenous Slovenian breed that reigns on the steep slopes of Northern Primorska, the nation’s biodiversity is at risk, as well as the ethnographic, cultural, and spiritual heritage of the local area. The extinction of the Dre\u017enica goat would mark the end of generations-long harmony between humans and nature, the collaboration of communities, and the agrarian model that we now recognize as the foundation of sustainable development. The film showcases never-before-seen documentary footage of goats in their natural habitat on the inaccessible Alpine cliffs, along with the stories of locals who, using their own skills and the ancestral wisdom passed down through generations, strive to avert the inevitable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I was introduced to this world by Professor Simon Horvat, a key advocate for the breed. Through never-before-seen footage, I document farmers\u2019 stories and the goats navigating Alpine cliffs, while also revealing the uncertainty, especially when Janja considers quitting.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starmi cajt . Il tempo ripido . Steep time: a sudden acceleration of time, as if level ground had suddenly tipped, causing everything to tumble down. In this documentary, Super 8 footage, photographs, voices, and memories resurface like the findings of contemporary archaeology, recounting the visible and invisible transformations that followed the 1976 earthquake. It is a reflection on the changes that took place during the final decades of the twentieth century, both in the villages of the Nadi\u017ea valleys and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
