TRADITIONAL SINGING WORKSHOP I mentor: Svetlana Spajić (Srb)

A workshop dedicated to Serbian vocal polyphony, which Svetlana Spajić has been researching and interpreting since the beginning of the 1990s. These are special vocal techniques that are still known today in many areas of the former Yugoslavia: various areas of Serbia as well as Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

WORKSHOP GOALS:

– to present cultural, geographical and historical context using audio documents and videos.

– to analyse the specific themes of a particular oral tradition.

– to use vocal techniques that correspond to a given oral tradition.

– to work on forms: pronunciation, poetics of texts used, rhythms, ornaments, vocal techniques and sound effects enabled by multi-voice

– to analyse the characteristics of a given oral tradition.

The workshop is intended for amateur and professional singers for up to 15 people.

Svetlana Spajić is an internationally established Serbian singer, known for her research and pedagogical work in the field of Serbian traditional singing. Her central interest is microtonal singing of a cappella with all the unique characteristics.

Workshop will take place from Wednesday 6. 7. to Saturday 9. 7. at 11.00 untill 16.00 with a lunch break. It will be held at Tornijeva dvorana (Torni’s hall) in Tolmin.
