CROCHET I mentor: Kaja Pintar (Slo)

Reviving traditional techniques in modern ways.
Granny square is one of the most recognizable and traditional crocheting techniques, and in
recent years it has been revived as a motive in clothing and fashion accessories.
The technique of crocheting the basic granny square is simple and also suitable for beginners
or even the first encounter with yarn and crochet. At the workshop we will learn about the
basic laws and techniques of crochet. Interesting countless variations and ways of connecting
squares and the basics of designing clothing or fashion accessories will also be presented for
those with a little more knowledge. The learned techniques will enable participants to make a
shirt, top, handbag or scarf in their own vision.
Cotton and woolly yarn of different thicknesses and colour will be available, but if there’s
some wool rolling around your house, bring it with you.
About her work, Kaja says: ”I first met crochet in high school, and I’ve been turning it into a
profession in the last few years. My signature style is drawing on traditional crocheted
motives and giving antique patterns a fresh look and my collection of crocheted clothing is
available online, under the brand name “Kaya’s Magic Hook”. I am currently working on a
new summer collection of t-shirts and accessories.”

The workshop will take place in the morning hours every day of the festival.
