// In its first year of operation, the xMobil project is developing a working prototype framework for a solar-powered investigative art module in the form of a car trailer that enhances creativity and innovation in remote locations. This modular lab will offer durable but affordable equipment for AV production and playback, it is also designed to support research in art-science-technology projects, including natural science research, field sociology, and visual anthropology. The project aims to develop social and technological innovation for remote, rural, and natural locations that do not have electricity supply and access to such equipment. xMobil is the official part of the Go!2025 GO BORDERLESS European Capital of Culture 2025 programme.

xMobil: The Night Flight Microphone
The Night Flight Microphone is one of xMobil’s functions – it is meant to capture and store the calls of night migrating birds and other animals during times of climate change, so they can be isolated, identified, and eventually used for scientific research. Mounted on the xArm, it can be raised above the ground and pointed at the sky, minimizing the outside noise. As a part of the xMobil trailer, it is possible to move and station the Microphone under known migration routes and hotspots in order to study the species that use them.
xMobil: Laser Graffiti
The essential functionality of xMobil will also be the Laser Graffiti module developed during the workshop by Tadej Droljc. The attendees have learned how to set up a laser projector for an outdoor intervention. The technique that was used is based on drawing with audio signals, namely by converting vector graphics to sound and then projected by a laser beam in motion.
After learning about the limitations of the laser projector and having a deeper understanding of the technology, the attendees designed their own vector graphics for the xMobil to be projected on public spaces in Nova Gorica.
