TOP BANANA (Ita)

The visuo-musical duo Top Banana is partly evoking the krautrock tradition of the 70’s but remains nevertheless open for contemporary musical practices within the analogue-electronic scene. We could frame their improvised musical expression as within the psychedelic landscape, which includes traditional Japanese melodies but also has its noisier places. Top banana are Jonathan Kiwi, who takes care of sound, and the video artist Dorothy Kinkaiaard, who uses analogue equipment to create visual accompaniment to the improvised sound waves. It’s therefore an analogue-digital audio-visual trip, where sound and image tease each other and explore the intersection of the past and the future.
