Sainkho Namtchylak, the singer, performer, writer, ethnomusicologist, teacher, is certainly the most prominent representative of the single throat singing from the autonomous Russian province of Tuva on the border with Mongolia, which surpassed the traditional way of singing on his long career. When writing music for film, theater and dancing, he is constantly present at the venues and in projects of freely improvised and innovative music. His specialty is playing on a dacsofone, a musical instrument invented by Hans Reichel in the 1980s. In recent years, Pan-Asian identity in music has been devoted to and after collaborations with musicians from Indonesia, Thailand and China, it was a matter of time before he would meet Sainkho Namtchylak on this research route.
