SALON 19/21

SALON 19/21 is an audiovisual project by Aleš Valentinčič – Brdonč, Romildo Kumar – Romi (Harlem Underground) and Blaž Trušnovec – Truš.
It is a complex project resulting in an intermedia performance and an installation.
The project is a mixture of three creative elements – music – composition, photography and video. The project is bound to the Soča river valley, specifically to Anhovo or its cement factory (Salonit) which has, in its almost 100 year existence, marked this part of the Soča river valley. Mostly in the negative sense as the mark of the cement factory had an effect on the environment with severe pollution. On the other hand the factory has been providing jobs for the inhabitants of this region since 1921. The project was named with the name of the factory and the year of its opening – ‘Salon 19/21’.
Aleš Valentinčič, guitarist, amateur musician and author of many compositions is not a part of this project by coincidence as he has been working for Salonit since his youth, as long as he has been writing music. Together with his long time musical companion Romildo Kumar with whom he was a part of an avant-garde electronic duet Harlem Underground, he will produce a composition – a combination of industrial experimental electronic music and electric guitar with all available effects. Blaž Trušnovec will be responsible for the visual part of the project for which he will take a series of photographs and video material in order to demonstrate the contrast between the beautiful nature and the foreign object in the form of a factory located on the bank of the so called ‘Emerald river’ Soča. The final form of this visual project will be an art or experimental video which will, in combination with live music, present a complete A/V product.
